2019 16.1 Selle Français stallion

Licensed for breeding with CWHBA

Joey completed his licensing with Canadian warmblood in 2023. He is an exciting young stallion that we are very proud to be standing here in central Alberta. Joey has a fantastic uphill gallop and is as enthusiastic as he is eager through the chute. He shows to have a fearless spirit, as well as great bravery when faced with new challenges. This stallions cheeky attitude and truly humorous nature make him a joy to ride and to have in the barn. He is a medium sized, modern shorter backed stallion with a powerful hind end. We expect him to cross well with older style mares needing refinement as well as more modern blood type mares. He brings some of the best of European bloodlines to the table.

His sire Vleut is one of the most sought after stallions in France. Producing 11 approved sons some of which have been successful up to 1.60 internationally. At 5 years old he became the Dutch champion. He was a finalist at 6 and 7 years old in the world championships. Vleut was sold to the brand Gucci where he became their ambassador. Ridden by Edwina tops Alexandra the partnership won the Equita Masters CSI5* at the 2011 Equita Lyon, France. Later he was sold to Abdullah al Sharbatly of Saudi Arabia where he continued to show and win at the 5* international level.

Vleut is sired by a stallion that needs no introduction, Quick Star. Approved in 21 studbooks he was described as a “freak of nature, with springs in hind legs” by those closest to him. Both Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum and Nick Skelton rode Quick Star to many grand prix wins and finishes, accumulating over 500,000.00 Euros in prize money. Quick Star is known for passing on his easy character, powerful hind quarters, short backs and lively spirit. He has sired 2 Olympic athletes Big Star and Star Power.

Joeys dam Haifa des cresslas foaled him at 24 years old. Making Joey the very last of her offspring. Her sire  Rosire was licensed with SF and ridden by Eric Navet. He had a career to the 1.50. Haiffa des cresslas has also produced another stallion who has international results in the 1.40.
